Admin post from Tori [A]
Hey there frens,
I know this place's 2006 design might be a bit off-putting to some, so I put together this nice guide to some of the basic features of this place.
This is what it looks like when logged in (shown in the top right)
If you aren't logged in, there will be a button for you to log in/sign up there instead, obviously.
Your YIH account is tied to your "Global Account". That would be your ProBoards account (ProBoards are the people hosting this site). On your global account you can make as many forum accounts as you want (as long as you aren't doing anything bad with them, obviously).
Note: forum staff can see your email, so if that makes you uncomfortable I'd recommend using a non-personal email address. We will never share your information with anyone, ever.
If you want to switch between your alts, you don't need to log out. Instead press this little button in the bottom-right corner:
And it'll take you here:
Note that if you abuse this, we can easily ban all of your accounts.
Navigating the Forums
This place can be confusing, especially if you're a room temperature IQ R#dditor who's used to everything just being right in front of them at the push of a button.
So we'll go from top to bottom:
Clicking the big YIFFIN' HELL will take you back to the main page of the forums. The things underneath it:
- HOME- Also takes you back to the main page
- HELP- Takes you to a better help page than this one
- SEARCH- Allows you to search for things
- CALENDAR- Shows you birthdays and stuff idk
- MEMBERS- Gives you a nice list of all your friends :)
- ADMIN- cool admin hackerman stuff (too bad you don't have it lol)
- PROFILE- Your profile :D
- MESSAGES- Any DMs people have sent you will show up here.
These are all the different topics. Think of them like different channels in a Discord server. Those things marked with an "i" are posts that we have basically stickied to the top of the site because they're important.
Some (1 at the time this was posted) boards have different 'sub-boards'. You can post things to these as well.
Clicking "CREATE THREAD" will let you create a post. Writing in "Preview" mode is a lot simpler, but use whichever one you want. Posts must have a title.
At the bottom of every page is the chat. It's a simple chat but it's quite nice.
I'll add more if I need to
